About us »

Meet Justine and David. They are husband and wife, and grateful owners of Quaintrelle Farm.

With a shared passion for creating a more beautiful world by planting organic food and native species, they offer rural lifestyle accommodation in Koonorigan, a nice midway point between Lismore and Nimbin.

Foundations in permaculture teachings

Justine and David headed for the Tweed Valley in the late 90’s and spent a couple of years living at Tagari Farm, which was home of The Permaculture Research Institute at the time.

Here, they studied Permaculture farming practices and immersed themselves in a life centred around caring for the earth and for people. This experience provided the foundation for how Justine and David wanted to live, where it now informs the vision they have for their own farm.

Justine and David’s skills and experience

When it comes to managing the place, Justine and David each bring their unique skillsets to the table.

Justine is a Doctor of Ecological Psychology; Her work involves exploring the interrelationships between the earth, other animals, human psychology, imagination, and the experiential process of creativity. She also loves gardening and is continually expanding the gardens at Quaintrelle Farm.

Justine has worked in a variety of educational settings, including schools, private colleges and universities. She is currently part of the faculty at Viridis Graduate Institute and is also working on a manuscript for a non-fiction book, which unites her experiences of living an eco-conscious life.

David has years of experience in small business and organic farm management. His enthusiasm to understand the world around him as well as his desire to be active has enabled him to love the high-energy lifestyle of living on a farm.

When it comes to tending to gardens, maintaining paddocks and caring for animals, David is not afraid to get to the heart of the action!

Our partner in crime

Evie, their dog is also a vital part of the management team. As head of security, and lead general in greeting new arrivals, she never misses a beat.

She often roams about the paddocks, keeping the cows and chickens in check, and is the first to notice when a vehicle comes down the driveway. Once she discerns there is no danger, Evie loves making everyone feel welcome by gifting lots of hugs and pats.

Owning and managing Quaintrelle Farm is deeply rewarding for both Justine and David. Continuing to evolve a facility that supports people, ecological land management and organic growing harvests great joy and purpose.
